It begins with Imagination. A curved edge, a straight line, the resonance of wood.

Feature – Caesarstone Installation of the Month, Success Stories
A stunning, contemporary kitchen with far-reaching views of the rolling northern Welsh countryside is the subject of this month’s case study. The vast, light-filled space, which is part of a brand new home, uses an inspired palette of neutral colours, amongst which Caesarstone’s Oyster 4030 is key.
Designed by Andrew Lloyd of A Lloyd Design, and fabricated by GON Granite, in Denbigh, the kitchen is a truly unique spectacle that is a perfect combination of form and function.
Andrew Lloyd comments, “I was given a unique opportunity by the client to design a kitchen that would become the hub in the wheel of a classic farm building development. Under the expert advice of Glyn, Managing Director GON Granite, Caesarstone was proposed because of its many benefits; durability, stain resistance, non-porous quality and an incredible range of colours, one of which – Oyster – caught the eye of the client.”

We got to know Andrew Lloyd in the autumn of 2012 when we began to get quotes from people with a view to having a new kitchen installed. We knew that we wanted a local supplier and also one that would design a kitchen based on our needs and preferences.
The new kitchen also had to look great and made to a very high standard, so that we could use it every day for as long we lived in our house.
Andrew came up with a design that was both beautiful and practical and we had no hesitation in giving him the order. He had far more ideas than all of the other kitchen companies that we contacted. While the kitchen was being made, he was in regular contact with progress reports and we visited the workshop several times to see the component parts of the kitchen. These were all expertly made, with superb attention to detail, using high quality materials and the strength and solidity of the furniture was also apparent.
The installation of the kitchen went really well and Andrew was very reliable and also always let us know when we would have workmen on site. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We love the kitchen. We have a bespoke design that is different to anyone else's. It is lovely but practical, designed to be in constant use. It is of a quality that will mean we will always have it.

The architecture of our home was conceived from the idea of a curved kitchen.
At the very centre, is a tear drop shaped kitchen island, and from this our daily living seems to ebb and flow around a beautiful space. Andy has applied his passion, creative vision and the highest of standards into reality. The original inspired thought of a comet resonates with the energy that now revolves around the heart of our home, the kitchen.

We just wanted to let you and your team know that we are delighted with our new furniture the cabinet looks lovely with the lights on, and we are very impressed with the quality of the workmanship. We have had 9 and 10 of us round the table on two occasions and there was plenty of space. The shape is great too - certainly less passing things up and down the table!
Both sets of guests noticed the 'new additions' straight away and much admiration took place! We have already passed your details onto a work colleague and some friends looking for bespoke furniture.
Thank you for the request re the balance - we will give it some thought. A very kind gesture.Best wishes to you and your team for continuing success with your business.
Many thanks,

We've known Andy for many years and during that time he has built furniture that we have around our house.
The most significant work is the kitchen - the cabinets, work surfaces, kick boards, handles and lighting. It comprises floor and wall cabinets, an 'island' unit and is substantial in size and proportion. As would be expected it incorporates sinks, dish washing machine, ovens and hob - all integrated beautifully and with optimum functionality.
But it is the kitchen's appearance that is distinctive and which set's it aside from more ‘standard’ kitchens. Its finish, shape, form and proportion were all carefully considered for us. It's finish is an Ash burr veneer - beautiful to touch, elegant to look at — the look improving as it 'mellows' with age. The shape and form of each door and panel is based on a radius - curved (not straight!) - a development that came from examining the function of this room as a social hub of the house and the movement of people in and through the room.
I can thoroughly recommend Andy - he can bring fresh and interesting 'thinking' to a project. Or he can build, from your designs, furniture that will be well constructed. All is made by hand to exacting standards. Whatever the piece it will likely be with you for a great deal of time! Enjoy!
